Soviet Steel Helmet, Model 40 - original, used
Steel Helmet Model 40 with suspension insert.
The helmets come from army surplus, and as such they have some scratches and dents.
Helmet Model 40 was the primary helmet used in the Polish Army which was formed on USSR territory in 1943. The helmet was produced in three successive versions, each differing from the earlier one by an improved padded suspension and a suspension system using from three to six rivets fixed to the helmet interior.
Our supply of helmets all have six rivets. White Eagles were often painted on these helmets when the Polish Army in the USSR was first formed; however, because the eagles were highly visible and made sniper targeting easier, the practice of painting eagles on these helmets was eventually suspended.
Model 40 Helmets also remained part of Polish Army equipment inventory after the war.
