Hełm M38 wywodzi się z hełmu M35, który początkowo był używany przez wojska powietrznodesantowe. Prace nad modernizacją hełmu prowadził inżynier Karl Heisler od 1936 roku.

Efektem tych prac był hełm Fallschirmjagerhelm M38, który w czerwcu 1938 roku został oficjalnie przyjęty na stan wojsk powietrznodesantowych i był używany przez cały okres II wojny światowej.

W 1943 roku hełmy M38 otrzymał też 500/600 Batalion Spadochronowy Waffen SS.

Helmet M38 - Replica:

• Made of Steel
• Leather insert for head inside helmet attached to aluminum frame with rubber shock absorbers between Helmet and the head 
• Four attachment points for the leather insert

Helmet M38 was designed based on modernization of Helmet M35 which was originally used by air assault troops. Work on this redesign was conducted by Engineer Karl Heisler in 1936. 

His work resulted in Paratrooper Helmet M38 which became standard issue for air assault troops in June 1938. It was used throughout the entire period of World War II. 

In 1943, the Waffen SS 500th Paratroop Battalion (followed in 1944 by the 600th Bn) also adopted Helmet M38. 

The Helmet M38 Replica is available in two sizes:

Size II - head circumference 57-58 cm (22 3/8 to 22 7/8 inches)

Size III - head circumference 59-60 cm (23 1/8 to 23 5/8 inches)
